How to Track Watched Episodes and Rate TV Seasons (Free)

Short answer: in GuideStream TV, open a show, go to its episodes and tap the circle next to any episode to mark it watched. Each season has a progress bar, a "Mark season watched" button and a five-star rating row, and you can rate any single episode too. It's free on iPhone, Android, Apple TV and Mac.

This feature exists because someone asked for it. In October 2026 an Android user emailed our support inbox with two questions: can you mark the episodes or seasons you've watched, and can you rate them? At the time the honest answer was no. You could only mark a whole show as watched. Within a few days we built both, on every platform, and made them free for everyone.

What you can track

Episodes. Every episode has a check circle. Tap it and the episode is marked watched, with the date. Tap again to undo it.

Seasons. Each season shows your progress, for example "4 of 10 watched", plus a button to mark the whole season at once. Finish every episode and the season tab gets a check.

Whole shows. Finish every aired season and the show is marked Watched automatically. Uncheck an episode and it goes back to in progress.

Catching up out of order. Check episode 8 while 5 to 7 are still open and GuideStream asks whether to mark those too, so a backlog takes one tap instead of four.

How rating works

Ratings run from one to five stars, at three levels: a single episode, a season, or the whole title. Movies are rated as a whole title.

Every title page now leads its ratings row with the GuideStream score, ahead of IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes. It's the average rating from GuideStream users. For a show it's built from season and episode ratings, so it reflects how people felt across the whole run, not just the pilot. The score appears once at least ten people have rated a title, so one or two votes can't swing it. Until then the tile reads "Rate it". Your own rating shows underneath.

Step by step

iPhone and iPad

Open a show and go to its episodes. Pick a season tab, then tap the circle beside an episode to mark it watched, or use "Mark season watched". Tap an episode to open its rating sheet and choose one to five stars. The All, Unwatched, Watched and New filters at the top narrow the list.

Android

Open a show and scroll to Episodes. Choose a season chip, then tap an episode's check circle to mark it watched. The season's progress bar and star row sit above the list. Tap an episode to rate it.

Apple TV and Mac

Open a title and move to its episodes. Each episode card has Mark watched and Rate buttons, and finished seasons show a check on their season pill.

To rate a whole show or a movie on any platform, select the GuideStream tile at the front of the ratings row.

Why track at the episode level

Knowing you're four episodes into season two is useful on its own. It's more useful when the same app knows where the show streams and tells you when the next episode lands. That's the point of tracking in GuideStream: what you've watched feeds your alerts and recommendations instead of sitting in a diary. Moving over from a tracker that closed?
